SIIA Chairman Simon Tay on the recommendations of the Singapore Economic Restructuring Committee's Suggestions, TODAY 2 Feb 2010

SIIA Chairman Assoc. Prof. Simon Tay was asked to comment on the recommendations of the Singapore Economic Restructuring Committee.

"Singapore needs to continue and grow as a cosmopolitan city," he said. "Just because we are an island does not mean we should be insular. If we can achieve this, we would be at an advantage compared to almost every other Asian city. The pace of change must be better managed. The emotive aspects of belonging must be appreciated, beyond purely economic and rational decisions."
