Pro-democracy opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been put on an IV drip, after having difficulty eating. The Nobel Prize-winning activist's regular doctor was detained for questioning by the authorities earlier in the week, but another doctor was allowed to attend to her.
However, the doctor's request for a follow-up visit was rejected, and Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy, is worried for her health.
According to the physician who attended to her on Friday, Suu Kyi had lost her appetite, and had not eaten in a number of days.
Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since 1989.
