Najib Denies Link With Murdered Model

Updated On: Jun 26, 2008

Another uncertainty resurfaced in Malaysian politics with allegations that DPM Najib Razak is involved in the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaaribuu.
A public statutory declaration by well known blogger and editor of online news portal Malaysia Today Raja Petra Kamarudin linked the DPM’s wife and two others to the murder. The DPM responded by saying that the allegations were, “total lies, fabrication and total garbage.”, and a “desperate and pathetic attempt to discredit and taint my political image.”
He said his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor had already given her statement to the police.
Raja Petra has been charged with sedition last month for implying the Deputy Prime Minister was involved in Altantuya’s murder. He also claimed that PM Abdullah Badawi was in the know as the Prime Minister had received a written military report on the murder, which was then handed over to his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin for “safe-keeping.”
Khairy, Rembau MP for UMNO, has denied that he is in possession of such a report. He gave his statement to the police on the matter on Tuesday night.
