Asian evacuees return from Libya

Updated On: Feb 28, 2011

The AFP reports today on Asian evacuees returning home from Libya, including two state-run Air India flights carrying 530 people and a Vietnam flight carrying almost 100. At least 20,000 Chinese have been evacuated according to China's foreign ministry, with around 1,226 returning Sunday by chartered flights.

The evacuees told tales of chaos, violence and looting as Moamer Qaddafi loses his grip on power and the country teeters on the brink of civil war.

There remain tens of thousands of international citizens still stranded in the African nation.
