Laos to break ground on high-speed railway in April

The Lao government announced this week that it plans to break ground on construction of a new railway linking it to China and Thailand as early as this April.

The section of the railway on which construction is set to begin will link the Lao capital of Vientiane to the Chinese border.

Laos' government has announced it will pay villagers and city dwellers who will be displaced by construction along the route.
