Wikileaks release raises concern, stirs controversy

Updated On: Nov 30, 2010

Among the information featured in the thousands of US State Department cables recently made illegally available by Wikileaks include perspectives on fraying ties between China and North Korea, and allegations that the Chinese government was responsible for hacking American technology firm Google earlier this year.

Singapore has joined the international chorus of disapproval over the Wikileaks release. On Wednesday, it became known that a cable was released describing a 2009 conversation between Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and then-US Assistant Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg.
