Vietnam reported its first H1N1 flu fatality on Tuesday after a 29-year-old woman in the southern coastal province of Khanh Hoa died after four days of treatment at the provincial hospital. She was diagnosed last Friday, said doctor Le Tan Phung.
'She did not return from any contaminated areas,' the doctor told AFP.
According to Vietnam's Ministry of Health, 35 cases positive cases were identified on Monday.
Nearly 1,000 people have been reported infected. About 500 of them are receiving hospital treatment, according to the health ministry.
Vietnam reported its first H1N1 case in late May. Several schools in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi suspended summer courses due to infection among teachers and students.
Health and education officials have urged caution as the new school year begins in two weeks.
